About This Game
Solis is a hand-drawn adventure about technology and deception in a city at night. During a company trip you explore the city of Solis from dusk till dawn, talking with its inhabitants and meeting colleagues. This night you learn the painful truth about the company you work for. Will you remain loyal? In the game you explore an atmospheric and compact open world. Decisions within the game carry weight, influencing subsequent events, while the in-game text adjusts to reflect your choices.
Story From dusk till dawn you navigate the hand drawn city of Solis. Your pursuit is focused on the elusive CEO of eLiXeR, the company you work for. eliXeR promises something incredible: eternal life. As Billie; a marketeer, you've effectively sold this vision to the public, yet the truth behind your employer remains shrouded in mystery. Throughout your journey, you'll encounter a myriad of individuals with diverse perspectives, ultimately leading you to forge your own beliefs. Will you remain loyal to eLiXeR or come out with the truth?
Gameplay In Solis you explore the city, investigate your surroundings and talk with the inhabitants and colleagues you meet. Decisions within the game carry weight, influencing subsequent events, while the in-game text dynamically adjusts to reflect your choices. Interactions are streamlined to utilize a single button, aided by context-sensitive interaction icons. The GUI is a sparse as possible. Solis offers multiple endings and is crafted to be concise and compact. The complete game is estimated to run for approximately 2,5 hours.
Themes The game draws loose inspiration from the Theranos saga alongside other tech billionaires and Silicon Valley entities. While the narrative tactfully avoids overt references, it is influenced by contemporary phenomena such as Pizzagate, deepfakes and social media.
Art The game feautures sculptures created by Gijs Milius (1983), an artist and curator based in Brussel. His work makes a connection between the reality of the player and the gameworld. Milius's artwork is poised to provoke reactions from both Billie and potentially the player as well.
Music Within the city, virtual bands take the stage, delivering performances infused with songs crafted in distinctive styles that match the individual identities of each group. Leading the lineup is the inaugural act, Rock Drop. Throughout the rest of the game, an expansive soundtrack sets the mood. Each scene you encounter boasts its own distinctive theme, adding depth to your journey. The music is created by Bram Boomgaardt.
